This is Alice by Alter and she is from POP Wonderland. From what I understand POP Wonderland is a manga for children that re-tells a lot of classic European fairytails and other stories (ex: Thumbelina, Little Red Riding Hood). It’s been soooooo long since I’ve done a review! I actually took these pictures many months ago but didn’t have a chance to pick out the better ones and post the review!
Sakura and Final Fantasy Mini Figures
March 16, 2009This is Sakura of Sakura Taisen (Sakura Wars) by Max Factory and she is an itty bitty 1/10 scale figure. I watched Sakura Wars in my first couple years of watching anime and didn’t really like it, I pretty much picked out this series because I thought the character design of Sakura was absolutely beautiful and I wanted to know more about her. I was let down by the anime but I still admire her character design quite a bit. I wonder if I played the video game if I’d like everything a bit more?
Mikuru and Arcueid in Red
March 9, 2009Man…I’ve realy been busy lately. So I apologize for the lack of posts and for the fact that I’ve hardly had time to check out all my favorite bloggers new posts 😦 hopefully it will all be better soon. The next 2 weeks I’m facing right now are weeks from hell. School, work, and the new house are all attacking me as hard as they can all at once. But it’s mostly my own fault for owning so many things, the packing aspect of my life would be considerably less if I bought a few less figures and manga. BUT once I have the house I’ll start taking pictures of my figures outside too! I can’t wait to do photo shoots of figures in flowers in the spring and snow in the winter! YAY!
Now Featuring Miku and Ryuna!
March 5, 2009Here is my Miku from Good Smile Company! I just love how she looks in front of this background! SO CUTE! I have been looking forward to this figure for a long time. It gives me the shivers that there was a mixup with my pre-order and I almost missed out on her! She is a nice unique addition to my collection, she really stands out as being different from the rest of my collection. Currently I have no plans to get any other Miku figures, I know GSC has some tempting versions of her coming down the pipeline but I almost gagged when I saw the price of Black Rock Shooter. I know BRS is technically not Miku, but she was originally a darker variant of Miku and then the creator decided to just make her an original character, but I still see her as “Dark Miku”.
Fumie (Edelweiss) Orchid Seed
February 9, 2009This is Fumie and she is from the eroge Edelweiss, the figure is by Orchid Seed. I actually didn’t realize Edelweiss was an eroge until after I bought the figure (not that knowing that would have stopped me), she just didn’t seem like an eroge character. I’m not used to eroge characters looking this badass and strong. It was a difficult to get the lighting right with that background so at the end of the review I have a few pictures of her in front of a white background. I’m pretty sure this figure was inspired by a drawing of her in this pose but I can’t find that piece of art at the moment. This review is WORK SAFE.
Gothic Lolita Rei (Evangelion) Kotobukiya
February 2, 2009This figure is of Rei from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, although Rei never wore an outfit of this type in the series (at least not that I remember). Rei in this outfit was created to accompany the Asuka you see there in the back. I believe the Asuka outfit and pose was based off of a random drawing made by the original creator. This pair was made by Kotobukiya and are actually Kotobukiya US figures. What is a Kotobukiya US figure you ask? They’re figures that Kotobukiya release directly to the US and are sold at a reduced price, from what I’ve seen they do not differ from the Japanese figures at all. They just have a much nicer pricetag on them, these guys cost me $35 a pop. Well worth the money, they look simply wonderful together. Although you have to wait longer then the Japanese street date to get them.
Taiga Aisaka (Toradora!) Max Factory
January 16, 2009This is Taiga Aisaka from the anime/light novels Toradora! The figure is by Max Factory. I admit it, I bought this figure before I knew anything about this character, the figure was released before the anime started airing last fall. But if you ask me this figure says almost everything you need to know about Taiga’s personality. This is one of those situations where I fall in love with a character/figure and then watch the anime to find out more about the character that has intrigued me. I’ve fallen really behind in the series but I intend on catching up all at once soon. It’s hard for me to watch 1 episode a week of something, I much prefer to wait a bit and watch a huge chunk of the series marathon style.
I couldn’t resist her grumpy face and the fact that she was holding such a cute but angry tiger! This pose is modeled after the cover of the first volume of the light novel series (pictured above). Max Factory did a superb job, as always.
